1. Overview

This documentation provides an overview of how the Shelly Plus H&T and Shelly Gen3 H&T sensors update their data and report sensor information. Both devices operate in multiple modes and utilize different reporting mechanisms to ensure efficient use of resources, timely updates, and accurate data reporting.

2. Operation Modes

  1. Big Wake-Up (SET Mode)

    • In this mode, the device stays active for 3 minutes. It becomes accessible through IP, AP, MQTT, BLE, Wi-Fi, Cloud, or outbound WebSocket.
    • During this period, the device measures the surrounding environment and updates its display, but ignores the predefined thresholds.
  2. Small Wake-Up

    • After the device enters sleep mode, it remains inactive for 5 minutes. If the set thresholds are exceeded during this time, the device will take measurements, update its display, and send the data to the cloud, MQTT, or outbound WebSocket.
    • If the device hasn’t woken up in the past 5 minutes, it will measure the environment every minute. If the change in the reading is less than 0.1 and below the threshold, only the display is updated without sending data over the channels.
  3. USB Powered Mode

    • When powered via USB, the device reports its data every 5 minutes, regardless of whether the thresholds are met.
  4. Periodic Updates

    • Starting from firmware version 0.12.0, the device performs periodic updates every 2 hours, ensuring regular data reporting.
