Most garage doors and gate openers work with a short impulse signal, just like pressing a wall button for a second. To make your Shelly 1 Gen3/Gen4 act this way, you need to adjust two settings.
- Auto Off Timer: In the Shelly Smart Control or Web UI, set the Auto Off timer to 0.5 seconds. This way, whenever the relay is switched on, it immediately switches off again, sending only a brief pulse instead of staying latched.
- Relay Power-On Default: In Input/Output settings, set the relay’s default power-on state to OFF. This prevents the relay from staying on after a power outage or reboot.
